The Fiat Scudo van and Ulysse MPV have been off sale in Britain for quite some time, but the Italian firm is bringing them back in 2022 with a multitude of configurations and powertrains.

Stellantis-owned Fiat will use the EMP2 platform shared with the Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert to bring back the Scudo and Ulysse nameplates to Britain. The platform also allows for all-electric models, named e-Scudo and e-Ulysse to accompany Fiat’s sole electric van, the e-Ducato.

While no performance figures have been released yet for the all-electric models, if we take Citroen’s e-Dispatch electric van as a marker then expect a 50kWh or a 75kWh battery with 144 or 205 miles of maximum range.

No details have been revealed on the internal combustion-engined variants either, but they’ll likely receive the new Euro 6.3-compliant engine found in the 2022 Citroen Relay. This means two states of tune from a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel with either 118bhp and 310Nm of torque or 138bhp and 340Nm.

Sitting on the modular EMP2 platform, the new Scudo will come in three lengths: van, combi or cab. The Fiat Ulysse MPV will also offer a range of seating layouts, from six to nine seats.

The teaser image shows not a huge amount of difference compared to the Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert. The new, larger Fiat lettering takes centre stage on the grille, and the headlights look to have some design tweaks from its Stellantis stablemates.

Judging by the similarly-sized Citroen Dispatch, expect pricing to start from around £23,000 for the internal-combustion-engine version and around £30,000 for the all-electric e-Scudo. The Ulysse MPV will share the market with its Citroen Spacetourer and Peugeot Traveller siblings and we can expect starting prices from around £35,000 with all-electric models from around £45,000.

Fiat says order books will be open for the Scudo and Ulysse by the beginning of 2022.
